Radio Delta International is a nice Dutch free radio station founded in 1971, broadcasting on 6020 kHz and 6005 kHz shortwave from a facility in Elburg the Netherlands. Radio Delta International was unlicensed by any government for most of its early life, it was a pirate radio station with a great history that never became legal. Ever since more than 49 years have passed with ups and downs. No doubt more ups than downs. What kept and keeps us going can be best described as "The love for Free Radio". Reason: "More and more countries are switching off their powerful shortwave broadcasters, because the internet and DAB+ frequencies offer good alternatives. This creates room for free radio forms as that from Radio Delta International."

Every Saturday evening and Sunday we bring you great 'live' shows on 49meters shortwave right across Europe and around the world. No tight formats or playlists, just the best music with Requests and greetings from our listeners. Ilmasilta - Hollannin ja Suomen välille alkaa saada jo muotonsa! Ehdin laittaa oman listani Radio Deltalle ja Aart jo viestitti, että siitä hän aikoo soittaa jo musiikkia ensi sunnuntaina 12.9. Nice day by the radio with DRI again, no dobt! Real fun! The transmission was seeminly well audibly all over the Europe, but really nice just here in Finland! Many many record requests were played for the Finnish dxers again and many warm greetings sent and received!

Viime sunnuntain ohjelman korvasikin yllättäen Radio Moniquen päivä taajuudella ja samalla lähettimellä, joten ns. levytoiveemme Finnish Hour -ohjelmaan siirtyivät nyt viikolla eteenpäin 5.12.-ohjelmaan. Kun R Caroline soitti suomalaisen Battle Beastin musaa ohjelmassaan; menin tuubiin ja kopioin yhden heidän kappaleistaan ja muutin mp3:ksi ja pistin sen huvikseni Aartille, joka vastasikin samantien -"soitamme sen ensi sunnuntaina"! 5.12.21 -- ohjelma alkoi komeasti Finlandia- hymnillä Suomen itsenäisyyspäivän kunniaksi - lisäksi Finnish Hour oli taas tietysti täynnä suomalaista Euroopassa varmasti ennen kuulematonta musiikkia. On meillä hyvä ystävä Hollannissa. Lisäksi on aikeissa tehdä jouluohjelmaa Suomesta joulun aikoihin.. ja teema saattaa näkyä myös aseman kotisivuillakin!     Hello! The signal wasn't weak but the quality of sound was so soft that I had difficulties in hearing the talk. There weren't familiar songs either, so I thought I wouldn' t come up with a report. Suddenly at 10.08 the goddesses of short wave gave me two minutes of good reception (SINFO 45434). I heard a ballad about a guy waiting at the station and falling in love with a girl whose name he doesn't know. That's when a DJ said "This is R Delta, the short wave station on 48 metres." After the song you had a DX friendly chain of jingles which ended at 10.22. DJ said "Good morning" and sent greetings to Finland for reception reports. The signal faded away at 10.25. If this report is good enough, I would welcome a QSL.

When I started listening to your station at 8.45 UTC signal strength was moderate and there were no other stations interfering on the same frequency. Unfortunately there was some atmospheric interference and some signal fading but despite these I enjoy your program. Rhode & Schwarz SK080 with classic anode/screen modulation, built in 1959. 100% tube-based, 800 Watts RF, sucks 3.4 kVA (one phase!). Radio Delta engineers refurbished this beautiful vintage AM broadcast transmitter. We used this transmitter in the 80's on shortwave 7325kHz. The R&S SK080 has a nice internal modulator with 2 x QB3/300 tubes with a brilliant AM modulation. This R&S SK080 transmitter could modulate around 800 watt nom. Many dutch pirate stations use the smaller R&S SK010 with external modulator, this transmitter can modulate around 130 Watt nom.

The R&S SK family was used by the German Army during the 60's and beginning of the 70's. During the 80's and 90's this army surplus was sold to handlers. It was in the past rather simple to buy such a gear in Germany and Holland. Later became the R&S SK1 (1 kW max carrier power AM, + USB and LSB ) popular. But their mintage was much much less. Vinkkasin eilen kiireessä WOR/Nordx-jäseniä nopsaa siitä että DRI oli nyt äänessä! Muua radioamatööri ei tietysti ymmärtänyt koko viestiä eli kehotusta avata radio DRI-taajuudelta 6005 kHz. Se synnytti jo hieman lisäviestintää, mutta nyt asiaa kommentoi itse tohtori Hansjörg Biener! :)
"I do not see the WoR-group as a short message service and do not hurry to follow up on an "alert". Still in employment for some more years, listening to the radio and collecting information for the news columns of Radio-Kurier is not my full time activity. In fact, I very often lag behind quite a number of messages. To make best use of the group, I expect contributors to be as informative and precise as possible.

I understand Kari Kallio is a very enthusiastic supporter of Delta Radio International who has even organized some programming on the station. But even then his "clear message to open the radio on 6005 kHz after an absence of 6 months!" makes me wonder whether he meant "6 weeks"
My file on Delta Radio International contains these earlier messages:
220625 Delta Radio Int. made a short testing transmission at 18:30 UTC on 6005 kHz - nice S9 signal here in the North. DRI has been off the air for over a month! Let's wish for a prompt but smooth revival for this wonderful radio station. Kari Kallio
220703 so 11:39 We hear nonstop music on 6020 kHz - no announcements - no IDs. Maybe they are testing today a new transmitter or a new antenna or both. The signal has been in the SDXF Southern remote test Kiwi SDR receiver between S7-9 but here in Finland much weaker. We believe this is Delta Radio International. No. DRI radio silence has been total. WA-messages go to the studio mobile phone which has not been opened in several weeks. As far as we know it concerns sc hard covid. We Finns are of course worried for a reason. DRI has become a good friend of the several Finnish listeners. Kari Kallio

"Radio Delta", English comments, from 1900-1930 strong QRM from Radio Taiwan International via Kostinbrod with French program, but Radio Delta heard weak in the background with songs and identification. ..johon sitten vastasin 23.10.22 -Thanks to Hansjörg for the thorough analysis that included also DRI's tests that we didn't have even information about. You are really in the know about everything that is happening in the DX world! DRI's charm is crystallized in its central character Aart, who radiates kindness towards each of his listeners all over the world! Many of us listeners in Finland have also been able to feel this warmth, for which DRI even organized its own program Finnish Hour, mainly for the music made in Finland as well the German Hour for the German music. There is a demonstrably large group of DRI listeners just in Germany! According to my own notes, the last real DRI radio program before yesterday was on 12.8. at 16:30 on 6005 kHz. Although it was not the so-called Finland- program, AB sent numerous greetings then just to Finland. What has worried us, the main means of communication, the WA-studio mobile phone, has been closed since almost spring, when the main character of the story fell ill. Against that backdrop, yesterday's surprise return of DRI was like a firework rocket for the show's fans elsewhere in the world. That's why I was in a hurry to tell the whole world about it also through WOR. A little before midnight, AB had sent me another message " Thanks for your report: We´ll meet again!". Maybe now there is enough strength to implement the big future plans for DRI that he already told me about in the spring. I am sure that DRI's loyal listener base will continue to support the station in the future, whatever it will be. Yllätys oli aikamoinen lauantaina 22.10.2022 kun Delta ilmestyi illalla taajuudelle 6005 khz. Edellisestä kerrasta onkin jo aikaa, joka oli 12.08. Kyseessä oli Aartin mukaan testilähetys ja sitä herkkua riitti pari, kolme tuntia.
Lähetyksessä tuli tervehdyksiä puolin ja toisin, kuuntelijoilta itse Mr. Deltalle ja päinvastoin. Kaikin puolin ilmeisen mieluinen tapaaminen pitkästä aikaa radioaalloilla. Toivottavasti seuraava kerta koittaa mieluummin ennemmin kuin myöhemmin. Ainakkin Aartin oma näkemys jatkosta oli lupauksia antava.
Illan ohjelmasta on tehty lyhyitä äänityksiä suomalaisten tervehdyksistä. Ne löytyvät GoogleDrivestä oheisesta linkistä. Klippien pitäisi avautua suoraan linkeistä, myöskään mitään kirjautumista pilvipalveluun ei tarvita. Mikäli linkkien avaamisessa on ongelmia, kannattaa kokeilla kopioida linkki leikepöydälle ja liittää se suoraan selaimen osoiteriville. Selaimien välillä näyttää olevan eroja. Microsoft Edgessä linkit avautuivat minulla suoraan, kun taas Safarissa voi joutua painamaan ensin Lataa nappia ja sen jälkeen Näytä. Myös eri käyttöjärjestelmien välillä voi olla eroja. Linkki avautuu näkymään, missä ovat sekä vuoden 2021 että 2022 äänitykset. Uusimmat äänitykset ovat 2022 -kansiossa lokakuun alla (10).

Without any prior notice, DRI tested 29.October on 6020 kHz by playing Dutch music and renewed station ID-jingles.
The Finnish "dart team" was however awake as always and began to report about the hearings to DRI's WA studio mobile phone and very soon it was answered.
Dj Aart said being then very busy and that he was working in the sc. engine room. He asked us to stay by the radios, because during the day they
were going to do tests with the new transmitter on two new frequences as well - "I´ll app you a message when we start to test!" The question was to make a short carrier wave test with a low power of 25 watts on the frequencies 11660 and 9710 kHz. The tests were quick and quiet. In Finland the signal strengths were S5-7 but DRI`s own observations via Irish and Italian remote receivers were better S7-9. Aart reported being very satisfied with the outcome of the transmitter testings!

PS. The question is whether DRI plans to start broadcasting now on the 25 meter band as well. Namely. DRI's previous intentions to start broadcasting
on 41 meters were never materialized.

Tänään 11. Joulukuuta oli Deltalla testilähetys, joka kesti n. 1,5 h. Vakiotaajuuden 6020 khz lisäksi testattiin taajuutta 11730 khz. Se kuuluikin hyvin läpi koko Suomen aina Lapin perukoille saakka. Tehoja Aartin mukaan 400 w.
Deltalta on luvassa joulun aikaan "Christmas Show" ja "Finnish Hour". Hyvää kannattaa siis odottaa!

It takes for us some time to recover, but we are back and will startup the transmission. I am very pleased with your reception report!!
It gives us a good impression.
Some extra details:
- 6020 kHz is still running with Christmas (25.12 and 26.12) from the early morning!
- 11730 kHz will be also on air with Christmas from the early morning!
Maybe we will also test 9760, but that's not for sure. We are looking for a good covering of Europe with our transmitters.
At this moment I prefer 11730, but that's not for sure...........
 
I hope to meet you guys with Christmas on the airwaves.....maybe the WA gang from Finland can make some nice teasers with greetings for our DRI Xmas show?"

After a period of Covid we are recovering and starting up the shortwave transmissions.
